LOVING EVERYTHING ABOUT IT!!
Colleen is a amiable customer here at the Slough, and when she walked in with her big smile and sun kissed skin-  the tribal crop immediately popped in the brain.
Crops have been so crucial this year, although they are intimidating, the results show no other than salt filled fun! This outfit paired with simple sandals, salt stained hair and a swipe of lip gloss becomes that sublime beach bone fire look.

Whats your plans for this sunny Thursday?
Do you do crop?

ps. Thanks Colleen, you did amazing!!

Visual.

Today is gorgeous!! The sun is shining and the air is salty. It never ceases to amaze me what a visual person I am. During a phone interview today I was asked, "are you, in fact, a visual person?" Hmm, why yes! Yes I am. The eye is what draws you in, a store front is the calling card and what is behind those doors needs to be desired.Being visually invigorated is key in owning your own business, or running a successful closet at that. This salt stands behind a color coordinated closet and organized jewelry. Costume jewelry can be quick to overwhelm, stay focused and organized. Having your goods ready will ensure that perfect outfit, even at the drop of hat. As far as visuals I have migrated for years towards free people, anthropology and Urban Outfitters depending there mood, and mine ;) When it comes to my closet, yes, it is color coordinated. My jewelry, on the other hand, is what they refer to as HOT MESS and needs some major attention. How about you? Do your goods showcase there selves, or are you always digging?

Pop that Mono.

Neutrals are not always this salts favorite option, but as I get older the more I gravitate towards this saving grace. Its such and effortless option, no thinking required! When time is ticking and the kids are screaming- grab and go becomes the style. Two steps: 1. Choose your neutral- anywhere on the spectrum of gray, black, white and I like to include blush. 2. Once your base is chosen, look through your accessories..What color do you gravitate towards? Pick that and Voila! Your ready. What? you don't gravitate towards a specific hue? That's OK, for example, I normally feel like red is extremely aggressive so I bring it in with accessories, steer away from black and choose a gray or white. The options are to the moon.

Styled above I chose a gray stretch skinny, its a new favorite of mine. Afraid of white jeans? This is the next best thing. And perfect for carrying year round. The shades are a trendy shape with a bright rim just for fun. The necklace is awesome, its handmade (here) and is a major statement piece, neutral is the perfect backdrop. Lastly, play! Shoes are always fun..and remember- they always FIT.

Have you tried this look? Come in the shop, we can help!!

summer inspirations

Salts are strong believers in living in the now but its always important to know what you want and the direction to go to ensure the life you always dreamed. This week marks a big milestone in the career I have been building. From the age of 18 I knew fashion was my avenue and a boutique was my dream. Inspiration boards have always been a necessity to keep me focused towards the next step. Summer has arrived, lace up heels are in, and high waisted anything is a must!!

Are you moving towards your dream? Its ok to start today!
Thank you for all your support and loyalty to The Slough Boutique and The Salty Girls Guide!!
Whats next? Time will only tell.

Small peice of advice:

This is what the Lord says-
your redeemer, the Holy One of Israel
"I am the Lord your God,
Who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go"
Isaiah 48:17

I prefer the Bright Side!

sunny
Salts love a good pair of shades, remember? (here). This season we have decided to carry some funky eyewear at the Slough.  Fashion forward finds make me ecstatic to whats in transit. During Market the salts were on a mission to find fun sunnies that were affordable to all shoppers. We found success!! The glasses above were mere inspiration for what was found. Keep on your toes, these glasses will for sure run to the salt, retailing around $22- $25 its a sure steal!!

Do you have your sunnies for the summer? Check us out!! They will be here late next week #majormoment.

Tail-spun for Tunics.

Untitled #18

Tis the Season for Tunics!! The salts arent sure if we will ever have summer, but there is the hope of warm weather. The Slough has been invited to participate in a vendor day at a local Yacht Club so I am scouting for different styles and tunics to love.Honestly, I am the one who runs to the beach in the husbands stained t and cutoffs (smelling of PB+J), but this summer Im gearing towards a different approach. Im not for sure if its all women or just mom's, or maybe just me- but I make excuses for my dress, but no longer, nothing gives the esteem a little boost like great clothes.  How about you? Are you digging tunics?

An inside view.

As previously mentioned, Mother's Day is quite the deal around the Slough. We have worked really hard to provide amazing flowers, handmade jewels, and a fresh atmosphere for the week. Clothes are usually my deal, and I am no where near a photographer, but I thought it only fair for you outsiders to get a peak. Maybe spark some inspiration for your gift giving weekend.

The studs and vases can be found here, all hand and locally made! Completely smitten. We also just starting carrying the salty of salts with our "beach find" locket filled with ocean inspired trinkets (found here). The weekend is certainly shaping up, the shop is full of fresh flowers and the sun is shining!! Happy Friday.

Do you have fun filled plans for the weekend?
What are you going wear?

florally obsessed.

floral
This week has been absolutely crazy. The girls are wrapping up the season with recitals and what not, my mamma's birthday (we went here) and its MOTHER'S DAY week!! I thought it only necessary to talk flowers today. The shop is decorated to no end with fresh flowers and floral print. A salty covet is the outfit above. Styled simple, you cant go wrong. Normally I go for mixed prints, statement flats, and massive earrings. This style however should be attune. A pale floral paired with black flats grounds the outfit, chambray states sophistication without effort, and this Dooney & Burke is one of my fav's right now!!

How do you prefer floral? Are you loving it?

Bravery

Bravery
As a Salt, a Woman, a Mother, and a Business Owner bravery is something needed to face just the everyday. In contact with so many women on a daily basis its no shock I don't stand alone. In pressing times we need to be BRAVE, we need to be relentless and persevere. So here is what I'm thinking...

1. The Crop- go ahead bare it. We are so hard on ourselves as women, I feel like we miss out on some really great things due to negative body image.
2. A printed maxi skirt gives that freedom of a pant with the sophistication of a skirt. Who doesn't want to be that "girl" for a day?
3. Love- its what makes us do what we do! And every warrior needs a little armor.
4. A bright shoe is a reminder that there is some major ground to cover, having said that- make a statement.
5. Pick up your bow and arrow, a PB-J and hit that day with a peace of mind, knowing I Will Survive!

As the daughter of a most dignified mother, Mother's Day has always been a big deal. This year the Slough has decided to do something great. All next week we will be offering a Mother's Day Bar filled with one of kind hand made vases and fresh cut flowers. This salt is absolutely beside herself!! We have been so blessed to offer vases made by local Artist (here & here) and to top it all off, a watercolor card painted by Vicki Lowe, to seal the deal!

I thought I would give y'all a sneak peak in the shop right now!! The vases pictured will be part of our Mother's Day Bar and were handcrafted by the oh so talents @ Studio 12. I cant wait to see what Antoinette over @ Kinnakeet Clay has in store.

Whats your plans for Mother's Day? Stop by, flowers are always a memorable treat.

PS All jewelry will be 20% off with Complimentary Gift Wrap the week of Mother's Day!!!
